This day marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on 2 February 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar on the shores of the Caspian Sea.\u00a0Since 1997, the Ramsar Secretariat has provided outreach materials to help raise public awareness about the importance and value of wetlands (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldwetlandsday.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.worldwetlandsday.org<\/a>) and this\u00a0years theme is also being reflected in a new flyer published by GlobWetland Africa.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/globwetland-africa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Urban-wetlands-WWD2018_English.pdf\">Urban wetlands &#8211; WWD2018 (English version)<\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/globwetland-africa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Urban-wetlands-WWD2018_French.pdf\">Urban wetlands &#8211; WWD2018 (French version)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Note: Flyers are setup to print on A4 (portrait)<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>World Wetlands Day is celebrated every year on 2 February.
